They
raised

from
the
cookie
walk
on
the
14th
and
$517
from
the
Lenten
supper
on
the
17th
to
go
towards
the
National
Youth
Gathering
in
July.
We
have
21
kids
and
three
adults
attending
the
Gathering
with
a
need
of
$24,000
total
($1,000
per
attendee),
of
which
we
have
raised
$6,530
to
date.
LENTEN
SUPPERS
Our
Wednesday
Lenten
suppers
for
the
Jesus
Co.
kids
and
teachers
begin
at
5:30
PM
followed
by
supper
for
the
congregation
at
6:00
PM.
These
suppers
are
free-will
offering
fundraisers.
Our
Lenten
supper
this
coming
Wednesday,
March
3,
will
be
hosted
by
MAIC.
The
menu
is
chicken
&
dumplings,
beef
stew,
and
salad.
LENTEN
PRAYER
VIGIL
Each
Sunday
evening
from
6-7:00
PM
during
Lent
and
through
Palm
Sunday
(February
21-March
28),
the
sanctuary
will
be
open
for
prayer.
If
you
can
stop
for
only
a
few
minutes
or
for
the
entire
hour,
please
do
so.
Prayer
requests
may
be
submitted
all
through
the
Lenten
season.
CHILI
COOKOFF
&
PIE
AUCTION
St.
John’s
annual
chili
cook-off
and
pie/dessert
auction
will
be
held
next
Sunday,
March
7,
following
the
worship
service.
Prizes
will
be
given
for
best
booth,
hottest
chili,
most
eye-appealing
chili,
and
best
chili
overall.
If
you
are
planning
to
have
a
chili
booth
or
contribute
to
the
pie/dessert
auction,
please
sign
up
on
the
sheet
in
the
narthex.
REMINDER
When
we
have
inclement
weather
on a
Wednesday
and
Tri-Center
School
is
closed
that
day
or
school
lets
out
early,
we
will
not
have
Jesus
Co.
or
Confirmation
that
night.
OAFC
WEEKEND
On
the
first
weekend
in
March
(March
5-7)
St.
John’s
will
be
hosting
a
team
of
kids
leading
Ongoing
Ambassadors
For
Christ.
The
Board
of
Missions
will
be
providing
three
meals
for
approximately
20
people
during
that
weekend
and
are
asking
for
your
help.
If
you
are
able
or
willing
to
help,
there
is a
sign-up
sheet
in
your
mailbox
at
church.
You
may
give
this
sign-up
sheet
to
Cindy
Troyer,
Tammy
Meyer,
Jack
Aschinger
or
Barb
McIntosh.
They
would
like
to
have
the
food
items
brought
to
the
church
by
Friday
evening,
March
5,
at
4:00
PM.
Transportation
is
also
needed
for
Saturday
afternoon
to
drive
kids
around
the
community
to
do
witnessing
as
well
as
for
Saturday
evening
for
a
visit
to
Bethany
Lutheran
Home
in
Council
Bluffs.
If
you
are
willing
to
help
with
transportation,
please
let
one
of
the
Board
of
Missions’
members
know.
Four
or
five
drivers
are
needed.
Any
extra
or
leftover
food
items
will
be
donated
toward
the
use
at
Wednesday
Lenten
dinners
or
the
after-care
program.
CAMP
OKOBOJI
SCHOLARSHIPS
What
better
way
to
train
a
child
than
to
give
them
an
opportunity
to
join
the
fun
for
Cub
Weeks
at
Camp
Okoboji
on
July
18-24.
The
Camp
Auxiliary
is
giving
away
scholarships
for
a
week
at
the
camp
for
children
who
will
have
completed
grades
3-6
as
of
June
2010.
If
your
child
is
interested
in
attending
this
camp,
applications
are
in
the
church
office.
Children
must
be
members
of a
Missouri
Synod
Lutheran
Church
and
they
must,
in
their
own
words
(100
or
less),
tell
the
Camp
board
why
they
would
like
to
go
to
camp
this
year.
If
they
are
selected,
the
auxiliary
will
pay
the
cost
to
attend
Cub
Weeks.
Applications
must
be
received
in
the
camp
office
no
later
than
March
29,
2010.
The
board
will
review
the
applications
and
make
their
selections.
Children
selected
will
be
notified
after
April
10
and
given
the
necessary
information
to
complete
their
application
to
Cub
Week.
