LIFE THOUGHTS FROM LUTHERANS FOR LIFE
"In the beginning..." God, the Father, created [Genesis 1:1]. "And the Spirit of God was hovering...[1:2b]. "And God said..." [1:3]. The Word of God, the Son who would become flesh, was the agent of God's creative work [John 1:1-3, 14]. This Triune God brought forth in six days of creation the backdrop for the crown of His creation, "Let us make man in our image" [1:26a]. Contemplate the value this gives to human life. The early Christians suffered many "fiery" trials [1 Peter 4:12]. Christians today in many parts of the world continue to suffer insults, bodily harm, and even death for the Name of Christ. We not only honor God when we take a biblical stand on life issues, but we also express our unity with these Christians by not buckling under threats of discord or ridicule. We can, as they did, "entrust (our) souls to a faithful Creator while doing good" [4:19].
NEED TO BORROW SOMETHING FROM CHURCH?
If you need to borrow chairs, tables, etc. for special events outside of church, please let the church office know so we can keep track of where the items go and when they will be back. Thank you!
BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES
It has been said that your life is defined 10% by what happens to you and 90% by how you react...what you do with what happens to you. Reflecting on your life so far, is that true for you? What challenges have you experienced in life so far? While some challenges are/were painful, many can become life-giving and renewing, if and when we can come to understand God's loving and sustaining will for us. (Read Ephesians 5:13-17.) Some failures, mistakes, hurts, etc. may still be causing you great pain. How are you doing with your 90%? How can God help? Seek Christian counsel for needed wisdom, guidance, forgiveness, and strength. Providing Christian counsel and guidance, Christ's compassion and care to families and individuals, Lutheran Family Service of Iowa has an office near you. For a counselor serving near you, call the Lutheran Family Services of Iowa office at their toll free number 1-800-622-7285.
