THANK YOU
MAIC would like to thank everyone for their support. They raised $613 from the cookie walk on the 14th and $517 from the Lenten supper on the 17th to go towards the National Youth Gathering in July. We have 21 kids and three adults attending the Gathering with a need of $24,000 total ($1,000 per attendee), of which we have raised $6,530 to date.

LENTEN SUPPERS
Our Wednesday Lenten suppers for the Jesus Co. kids and teachers begin at 5:30 PM followed by supper for the congregation at 6:00 PM. These suppers are free-will offering fundraisers. Our Lenten supper this coming Wednesday, March 3, will be hosted by MAIC. The menu is chicken & dumplings, beef stew, and salad.

LENTEN PRAYER VIGIL
Each Sunday evening from 6-7:00 PM during Lent and through Palm Sunday (February 21-March 28), the sanctuary will be open for prayer. If you can stop for only a few minutes or for the entire hour, please do so. Prayer requests may be submitted all through the Lenten season.

CHILI COOKOFF & PIE AUCTION
St. John’s annual chili cook-off and pie/dessert auction will be held next Sunday, March 7, following the worship service. Prizes will be given for best booth, hottest chili, most eye-appealing chili, and best chili overall. If you are planning to have a chili booth or contribute to the pie/dessert auction, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex.

REMINDER
When we have inclement weather on a Wednesday and Tri-Center School is closed that day or school lets out early, we will not have Jesus Co. or Confirmation that night.

OAFC WEEKEND
On the first weekend in March (March 5-7) St. John’s will be hosting a team of kids leading Ongoing Ambassadors For Christ. The Board of Missions will be providing three meals for approximately 20 people during that weekend and are asking for your help. If you are able or willing to help, there is a sign-up sheet in your mailbox at church. You may give this sign-up sheet to Cindy Troyer, Tammy Meyer, Jack Aschinger or Barb McIntosh. They would like to have the food items brought to the church by Friday evening, March 5, at 4:00 PM. Transportation is also needed for Saturday afternoon to drive kids around the community to do witnessing as well as for Saturday evening for a visit to Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs. If you are willing to help with transportation, please let one of the Board of Missions’ members know. Four or five drivers are needed. Any extra or leftover food items will be donated toward the use at Wednesday Lenten dinners or the after-care program.

CAMP OKOBOJI SCHOLARSHIPS
What better way to train a child than to give them an opportunity to join the fun for Cub Weeks at Camp Okoboji on July 18-24. The Camp Auxiliary is giving away scholarships for a week at the camp for children who will have completed grades 3-6 as of June 2010. If your child is interested in attending this camp, applications are in the church office. Children must be members of a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and they must, in their own words (100 or less), tell the Camp board why they would like to go to camp this year. If they are selected, the auxiliary will pay the cost to attend Cub Weeks. Applications must be received in the camp office no later than March 29, 2010. The board will review the applications and make their selections. Children selected will be notified after April 10 and given the necessary information to complete their application to Cub Week.
